3-day Itinerary of Singapore

We are always looking for ways to maximize our time and money at each and every city we travel to. So when we accepted to visit Singapore for 3-days using the Klook App, we knew that value for money is something that is very important there. Singapore has a reputation as one of the worlds most expensive cities, so we wanted to be as economical with our time and money as possible.

We were challenged by Klook, to use their activities and experience platform (Available on Android and Apple store) to navigate and enjoy Singapore as unplanned as possible to test their ability to make us discover the place in a smooth way. Klook‘s mission is to make it easy for people like us that like last-minute bookings for travel necessities (like SIM cards, airport transfers, etc.) to local activities for sightseeing, by providing instant bookings on the app.

Day 1 – Duck Tour and Night Safari

Before we boarded our flight to Singapore in Dubai, we hopped on Klook and booked a private airport transfer to our hotel. As we arrived, there was a driver waiting for us at the airport, with a nice big sign ready to take us straight to our hotel. Just a note, make sure you book at least 3 hours in advance so the driver can be booked successfully. We were dropped off and wanted to do something straight away so looked at getting SIM cards, booked it on Klook app and you could purchase it straight away for a store pick-up. At the mall and showed voucher and got them straight away. If you land at Terminal 2 or 3, you can pick up the SIM card on arrival. Just a note, don’t forget passport as you need the original document to get a SIM card in Singapore.

We were keen to see a bit of the city as we both really had not had a good look before. After scrolling on Klook, we decided it would be chill to book the Duck Tours, an amphibious vehicle that drives around the city and then turns into a boat and sees the sights. We arrived 30 minutes before our tour to redeem our seat and were ready to go! It was a 50-minute tour and is great for a quick glance at the major sights of Singapore.  When we were on the water we saw the Marina Bay Sands, Lotus designed building, Gardens by the bay, Fullerton hotel, the F1 course and the famous symbol of Singapore, the Merlion.

For lunch, we enjoyed some street food with dim sums and sweet chilli sauce before heading back to the hotel to be able to get some work done, including a few meetings. After a few hours, we got itchy feet and used Klook to see what we could do for the evening. After a little scroll, we decided to book the world famous Night Safari. We got in a GrabCar (no Uber in Singapore) and travelled 30 minutes from the city centre to get to the Singapore Zoo. There are several attraction parks in this area but we were headed to the world Famous Night Safari. This was the first of its kind in the world and the safari is home to 2500 animals with over 40% of the animals being on the engendered list. The ticketing process is super simple, especially if you have booked online using the Klook app.

The Night safari concept is a very simple one. You line up and go in motorized trains. You are then asked to be as silent as possible, for respect for others but also to enhance the feeling of being in the jungle at night with the wildlife. No flash photography is allowed but it is ok as it is more about the experience than just snapping photos. The Safari goes for half an hour and you see so many animals. We saw elephants, tigers, hippos, deers, buffalos and many others. This experience is unique and a must-see attraction when here in Singapore.

After we finished the Safari we headed to Clark Quay to catch up with some friends for some Singaporean dinner. We left the Quay straight away and head to the Boon Tat street food markets, which specializes in skewer food. So we sat down on plastic chairs and ordered as much local food as we could fit on our plates. When you are in Singapore make sure you eat local street “hawker” food, it is cheap and super tasty.

Day 2 – iFly Singapore and Universal Studios

Woke up nice and early and we got the day started with a work meeting before we decided where to go and what to do. A quick flick through Klook gave us a whole list of options of what to do in Singapore. We settled on going to iFly so we can get our action/adventure hit in. We booked it on the app while we were in the taxi on the way there to make sure we get the time slot we wanted. Make sure to call in advance to reserve the specific time slot you want as it gets quite full in their schedule! We arrived and I went straight into training, whilst Thuymi had to work on an urgent project. After a brief introduction on how to position the body and understanding the physics behind it all, I was ready to do my skydiving experience.

If you do not know what iFly is, it is an indoor activity that simulates jumping out of a plane, It is a huge wind tunnel with hurricane force winds and it is like you have just jumped out of a plane from 12,000 feet.

It was the coolest thing ever. You get two attempts in there and the first jump is about understanding how to position your body and getting used to all the wind and air that is flying around. Your second go is so much more fun as you have lots more confidence and understand how it all works. If you enjoy adrenaline then this activity is definitely for you.

After our rush of fun we figured since we were already on Sentosa Island, we may as well visit Universal Studios Singapore. So we quickly jumped on our phone and check for the tickets and booked them. The best thing about booking Universal Studio Singapore tickets online was that they allowed us to skip the queue of all the people waiting in line to get a ticket. No paper no worries, all automatic, just the way we like it. Show your ticket on your phone at the entrance and you are in!

It gave us the time to head straight in and explore Universal’s park in Singapore. We mingled with Minions, ate at the famous Mel’s Diner and went on as many rides as we could. Our personal favourite was the Transformers ride which was a full on 3D experience. It did not last long but it was really well done and high quality. (I mean we have expectations after experiencing the best at Disney World!)

After a few hours strolling around and enjoying Universal Studios … we were really tired. So we decided to call it a day and head to Chinatown to get some photography shots (how is this a break?). All of our shots will be in another article but it was a great walk around, enjoy it and immerse in the beautiful culture and sights that Singapore has to offer.

For dinner, we headed to Piedra Negra, a cool, hip Mexican joint on Haji Lane for some food. It was a great vibe, full of music, colour and beers. What a great way to finish a full on day with friends and nice venues.

Day 3 – Gardens by the Bay and Red Dot Museum

Our last day here was absolutely full on so we had to be very time efficient. We headed back to Arab Street and Haji Lane to get morning shots of the Masjid Sultan Mosque and the adjoining lanes for street art. Shortly after we headed toward Old Hill Street Place Station which is a gigantic building with multicolour awnings and windows. Very photogenic place and you have to time it right to avoid all the traffic going past as well. As we were right next to it, we wanted to go and find a little known set of stairs for an epic shot. Fort Canning is such a pretty garden area located on the hill with great views of the surrounding city. We found the spot we were looking for and managed to get every shot that we wanted to as well.

We knew we were leaving later that day to the airport so we booked on Klook our private transfer to the airport. So easy and we knew that it would be there on time at the requested time so we thought we could go do another activity before we leaving Singapore. Jam packed right? But made so easy with the app… like really. So booked Gardens by the Bay with the app. It is one of Singapore’s best attractions and rightly so. However, for this attraction, we had to pick up physical tickets at the Red Dot Museum, which we had free access for!

We then had to walk to Marina Bay Sands (4 minutes) and that gave us access to the Gardens. Our tip is to buy the shuttle return ticket which is only 3 SGD. Walking to the actual domes would take at least 15 minutes and you don’t want to be dripping sweat with Singapore’s humidity and heat. We visited the Flower Dome which was an extraordinary climate controlled mega dome full of plants and flowers from all over the world, including my home of Australia. We were lucky enough to be there right in time for the special showing of the cherry blossoms.

After the Flower Dome, we headed next door to see the Cloud Forest, a totally different habitat. This one was like a tropical forest with the highlight being the enormous waterfall that is free falling several stories as the air becomes covered in mist. This is a very popular tourist photography spot so if you want it, you need to be early and bring the wide angle lens! We failed this shot due to the crazy crowd!

Tips: Gardens by the Bay are open daily from 5 AM to 2 AM. The outdoor gardens and children’s garden are free of charge but the cooled domed conservatories and Skyway are open daily 9 AM to 9 PM with extra charges.

So after we have exhausted all our time, we jumped in a GrabCar and headed straight to our hotel to pack before the airport. Like clockwork, our private transfer was there at the exact right time to take us to the airport.

To be frank, Singapore absolutely blew us away with how much there was to do. I had the original impression that it was a business city, not much fun with really expensive alcohol. While the alcohol part is still very true, the city showed us another side that made us really enjoy our experience. The Klook app opened up opportunities that we didn’t know we’re going to save us that much time to see Singapore in such a convenient way. We are glad that we embarked in this adventure with them.
