Oman is a beautiful country. Unfortunately you might have heard that their visa policy is changing yet again and now making it even more expensive and difficult to get for tourists. Here is everything you need to know.
As soon as March 21st 2018, tourists that will be heading to Oman will unfortunately no longer be able to obtain a visa on arrival. You will be required to get a visa in advance of your date of travel and to apply for it online (at least it’s online!). It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful country with yearly improvements in their tourism efforts to promote beautiful mountains, wadis and waterfalls have found a way to regress in bringing tourism into the country. This new visa policy will be a turn off for many to arrange short visits and contribute to the tourism economy. It will also be a huge turn off for people like us that use to be avid ambassadors of the country by constantly encouraging people passing by Dubai to do a getaway to Oman. As for us, we will miss camping in Oman and Musandam boat trips, popular activities to do in Oman that will be no longer be as popular for everyone.
How to apply for the Oman Visa
It can be made on the Royal Oman Police eVisa website: evisa.rop.gov.om. After entering your information, you can proceed for the payment online and then receive your visa documents via the e-mail you applied with.
How much is the new Oman Visa?
50 Omani Rials (~130$US) is if you plan to visit Oman many times during a span of 1 Year and 20 Omani Rials (~50$US) if you only need 30 days. If you are a resident of the GCC, every entry will cost you 5 Omani Rials (~13$US / 48 AED) and if you plan to go over 10 times then maybe get the multiple entry which will also be 50 Omani Rials (~130$US / 480 AED) .
