The charming Arnarstapi Fishing Village offered another chance to slow down and enjoy both culture and nature. With dramatic cliffs, seabirds circling overhead, and stories of local folklore—including the tale of Bárður Snæfellsás, the peninsula’s guardian—this stop felt magical. One of the most serene moments of the day came at the Búðakirkja Black Church. Set against a backdrop of mountains and lava fields, this historic church is both simple and striking. Our guide explained its history, and it was inspiring to see how lovingly the community has preserved it since its construction in 1703. We ended our journey at Ytri-Tunga Beach, a golden-sand gem where we were lucky enough to spot seals lounging on the rocks. Watching them bask in the sun was a peaceful way to conclude a day full of exploration.
What I loved most about this experience was how customizable it was.
