Spicers Peak Lodge: Queensland’s Ultimate Altitude Retreat

Perched 1,100 metres above sea level atop the Great Dividing Range, Spicers Peak Lodge is the brand’s most dramatic and luxurious offering. It trades the manicured gardens, rainforest density, and bush expanse of its sister properties for breathtaking, sweeping panoramic views of the World Heritage-listed Main Range National Park. This is a true mountain lodge experience, offering a uniquely intimate and all-inclusive style of travel. For parents, the complete, all-inclusive package is the primary draw, allowing for maximum relaxation with minimal effort, which is invaluable when traveling with an infant. Peak Lodge has instantly become one of our favorites and let us show you why.

Location of Spicers Peak Lodge

Spicers Peak Lodge is located near Maryvale, Queensland, approximately a two-hour drive southwest of Brisbane. The journey involves a picturesque final ascent up a private road, instantly setting the scene for an exclusive retreat. In fact, set aside spome time and make sure you enjoy all the stops in this drive. Make sure your can can ahdnle a little bit of rugged road, but other than that most cars can easily make it. The location’s distinction is its dramatic elevation, providing a year-round, high-altitude climate and unmatched vistas that stretch for hundreds of kilometers. The surrounding environment is rugged mountain parkland, perfect for clear, clean air and quiet contemplation.

Rooms at Spicers Peak Lodge

Accommodation is divided into the central Lodge Suites and the exclusive standalone Private Lodges. The Lodge Suites are intimate, luxurious rooms within the main building, offering convenience and superb views, though they are inherently less private than standalone cabins. We stayed in the lodge suotes and thought they were amazoing, it had everything we could want. For travelers with an infant, the Private Lodges are highly recommended if privacy is your thing. These provide completely separate, expansive dwellings with full kitchens, dining areas, and private decks—ideal for maintaining a baby’s schedule and preparing necessary items. All rooms feature contemporary mountain aesthetics, fireplaces, and large picture windows designed to maximize the view. Due to the high-end nature of the property, staff are exceptionally attentive to noise mitigation and ensuring all guest needs are met promptly.

Food at Spicers Peak Lodge

Dining at Spicers Peak Lodge operates under an all-inclusive model, setting it apart from the à la carte dining at other Spicers properties. This includes all meals (gourmet breakfast, light lunch, and a spectacular multi-course dinner), beverages (including premium wine, beer, and spirits), and the mini-bar. The mini bar has so many local and sourced goods, all of which got a refill which means we had chocolate on call! The main restaurant, The Peak, offers an internationally recognized, multi-course degustation menu that changes daily and is focused on contemporary fine dining, sourcing ingredients from the property’s altitude-grown garden and local providers. The all-inclusive nature means parents can truly relax and enjoy the culinary experience without worrying about the bill or daily planning—everything is taken care of. Private dining options and in-room service are also available for maximum flexibility. We had several requests specifically for the little one and there were easily able to handle these.
