Celebrating our 5 year Anniversary at Park Hyatt Saigon

Park Hyatt Saigon

We try and celebrate big milestones in the best way possible. As full-time travellers, this is easier said than done. Luckily, for our 5-year anniversary dating, we were in Ho Chi Minh City, the place where we met but also we decided to do something special for our big day at the very same hotel where we had a few dates, the Park Hyatt Saigon.

Park Hyatt has been for a long time the most lavish place in Ho Chi Minh City for a spa session, brunch, hang out for a drink at 2 Lam Son bar (or called Martini bar by the locals) and, of course, a great place to go dine.

Our evening experience was three-fold. Firstly, we were there to have dinner at Square One, following this we went in for a couples massage at the Xuan Spa and we would finish the night with some signature cocktails at the place of our first fancy date at 2 Lam Son bar.

Dining at Square One

Greeted with smiles, we walked one level up to the restaurant Square One for our unique dining experience. Square One has an Open kitchen format, with 3 kitchens allowing you to watch the food preparation process in all its glory. The light installation frames all around the eating area added to the ambience of the restaurant. After meeting our waiting staff, we began by ordering some sparkling and made the tough choice to order the following meals: Vietnamese tasting platter, foie gras en cocotte, USA prime rib eye, french onion soup and Crepe Suzette for the finish.

The first platter is big enough for 2 people and is a great way to experience Vietnamese cuisine at its best. The Prime Rib Eye was cooked to perfection, a beautiful medium with mushroom sauce. One of the highlights of the dinner was the preparation of the dessert, They literally cook it up in front of you with naked flames flying everywhere in an exciting food prep concept for all to enjoy. And the answer is overwhelming yes, the taste was as good as the preparation process.

Couples Massage at Xuan Spa

After filling our bellies we rolled down to the Xuan Spa to have our message. We were greeted with smiles and a choice of oils to use for our massage. The changing room facilities were great with its steam room and jacuzzi in both the men’s and women’s area. After throwing on a robe, we met in the couples room for our Deep Tissue massage. Every time I am in Vietnam I get massages but usually there is a wide range of quality, depending on what you pay for. This massage was quality, she knew exactly what I needed, picked up my sore spots very quickly and got to work right away. We were very happy with how professional and thorough they were. After our session, we made sure to spend some good alone time enjoying the wet facilities before hitting the bar.

Have Drinks in Saigon at 2 Lam Son

2 Lam Son is a contemporary bar serving a wide range of spirits and wines. We got ourselves a booth in the corner that was private but still was able to feel the vibe of the bar. The music plays just at the right volume so you are able to actually have a conversation with friends or your date. The menu there is incredible with descriptions of each drink with a nice outline drawing of it and actually makes you want to get everything. We went for signature cocktails, the Bananas in Pyjamas and the Spirit of the Betel. Both were delicious as we relaxed the night away talking about the last few years we’ve spent together. A perfect way to finish a great night thanks to Park Hyatt Saigon team.
