Conrad Centennial Singapore Staycation Review

Conrad Singapore Pool

The Conrad Centennial Singapore has re-opened its doors on 16th December 2020 after months of lockdown hiatus. To commemorate the occasion, the hotel has launched two exclusive staycation packages catering to couples and families.

Where is the Conrad Centennial Singapore

Conrad Centennial Singapore is located at a convenient central location, close to the CBD and local transportation systems. With the famous Millenia Walk eating and dining area downstairs, bars, restaurants, and malls nearby, there is plenty of reasons to make sure your Singapore stay starts here.

Our Conrad Singapore Experience

At our arrival, we are greeted at the door and went through Singapore’s standard Safe-Entry ritual of scanning and temperature checking. The Conrad Singapore main lobby is absolutely massive and the primary feature at our time of arrival during Christmas time is the bear-filled Christmas tree and a giant set of winding white stairs leading to the conference rooms at the second level.

Our transition through to reception was quick and seamless. Our staff member, Mohit, was very helpful for our check-in process. He assisted us with the required hotel information and then proceeded to talk us through the process of booking slots for eating and activities, very handy information as if you forget to book, like breakfast, you might miss out on the timing you want to either use the facilities or eat. The Conrad Singapore team then took us up to our Executive Level floor for our nights stay in luxury.

Overall, even considering we prefer resorts to city hotels, we really enjoyed our little staycation at Conrad Centennial Singapore as we had a lot of things to keep us busy, mostly the Executive Lounge where we absolutely loved spending time at to eat and to chat.

The service at the Conrad did not fail us at all, even during more difficult times when we were unable to get the reservation timings we wanted. The team always served with grace and smiles on their faces. There can be a little backlog when it comes to bookings, so if you were not prepared then you may not get the spot you asked for. By the way, this is pretty common everywhere at the moment in Singapore considering the pandemic and government regulations, so always be mindful of the situation and be kind to the hospitality people anywhere you go! People aren’t paid to make your life difficult on purpose but to help you enjoy your holiday in a safe environment.

Back to our hiccup in failing to book for a spot we wanted, we missed out on our preferred eating spot, but this was purely our fault for booking late. If you are organized then you will have no issues with bookings at all.

When staying at the Conrad in Singapore, you must book yourself in for a feast at the Golden Peony. It is an exceptionally high-quality restaurant at very affordable prices for the high-quality food you are served. In terms of the service, the speed of staff was impressive and something to note. For a hotel that has recently re-opened back up for bookings, we were very happy with our overall experience and are already looking forward to heading back in 2021.

Conrad Centennial Singapore Rooms

We were located on the 29th floor, which included a view looking out to see Marina Bay Sands, The Bay, the Fullerton Bay Hotel, National Gallery and a whole view of the CBD area. This is a great spot to sit and watch the sun go down and the city light up in the evening. In the room, we had a long lounge couch to relax, several charging points and blackout curtains. The room also comes with a modern coffee machine to make yourself complimentary coffees, which is something we always enjoy having and certainly get good use out of!

The bathroom has a double vanity, bathtub, and Rainforest shower. Beside our king sized bed are charging points on each side, so if you have plenty of technology as we do, then this is super handy.

Dining at Conrad Centennial Singapore

Despite the several dining spots located around the hotel, there are still several quality options in the Conrad. Breakfast is served at their go-to restaurant, Oscars, located on the first level next to reception.

We had our breakfast during our stay at Oscars and were not disappointed. Usually, they have a buffet-style menu where you can step up and order what you like, however, the style is a little different.

You get to order anything you want off the menu and they will bring it out to you. The menu is a little shorter than normal, but this does not mean that quality is gone. In fact, you still have a wide range of local, Asian and International dishes.

We had both tried the indoor and outdoor settings and both were well ventilated and lighting was fine. Over our two meals, we had the following: Yoghurt, Kaya Toast, Fish Cakes from Noodles, Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Eggs, Oscar’s Waffles, Cappuccino(s), Orange Juice. My favourite was the Waffles and Kaya Toast, can’t go wrong with a mix of Western and Asian mix! The breakfast timings are full but there was always a space for everyone.

Conrad Centennial Singapore Staycation - Breakfast

Note: During the lockdown, everything gets booked out a day in advance so make sure when we check in you go on their app or QR code accessed and then you can book all your Pool spots, Breakfast, Gym spots, Afternoon Tea etc Basically if you are organized (unlike me) when you will be able to get everything you want at the time you want.

Conrad Singapore Executive Lounge

As we were a little time-strapped, we headed up to the 31st floor to the Executive Lounge for the Afternoon Tea. We got there at 2.59 pm and there was already a line up already waiting to get in, so we knew people were keen to have this. We got our essential and mandatory safety checks and were ushered to our seats. We got a table overlooking the city so we had great views of the rains about to sweep over!

There is an alternate afternoon tea menu. Each day has a different set of desserts for you to enjoy so guess what? We went 2 days to make sure we tried all the goodies for you. One thing both meals had in common was the English scones, which also happens to be my favourite.

They give you a pyramid of Afternoon Tea treats to go with drinks of your choice, so we had several coffees while eating the sweet and savoury dishes. It is also a “buffet” style so if you want any more of a dish, they will bring you another plate :-). It only lasts an hour, so make sure you are there on time to get a good spot and maximize the afternoon tea!

Facilities: Gym and Pool at the Conrad Centennial Singapore

There are plenty of things to do outside your room at Conrad so don’t plan on staying in the room for any length of time. They have an outdoor swimming pool which currently seats 20 per booking slot and has 4 big cabanas for groups to relax in. There is comfortable seating all around the pool, however, there is no shade of the pool itself. When you go to the pool, you are greeted with nice soft towels and iced water to relax by the pool with.

If you desire for some pampering, the Conrad Singapore has a Spa offering plenty of treats. Think manicures, massages and relaxing treatments during your stay!

The fitness area has an array of equipment, making it easy to maintain your fitness regime while on your staycation break. There are bikes, rowers, all modern Techno-gym (the most popular and quality products) equipment and a whole host of free weights and machines. Like everything in the post-COVID era, spots must be booked but we found this very easy to do with the gym. We were able to get a workout done and there was virtually never anyone else in the gym so we had our choice of gear and timeslots.
