Get taken to the back streets of Pisa in Italy with Resorts World’s brand new restaurant enjoying Pisan cuisine at Curate Cucina Pisana. Resident cuisine chef Davide Bizzarri takes you on a food journey through Pisa, in the heart of the world-famous Tuscany. You may have heard of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, also residing in the Tuscan region. Curate Cucina Pisana is located in the Resorts World Sentosa complex on Sentosa Island. For those who have not been, this is an area full of amusement parks, shopping and eateries.
Walking to the entrance, there is a gelato and Aperol Spritz cocktail cart just waiting outside for you to come and order, as well as a dozen Tuscan style seating arrangements (for those who wish to eat outside). In good Italian nature, there are literally hundreds of Aperol Spritz bottles spread everywhere and are a feature of the walls of the restaurant. For our meals, we decided to go with the chef recommendations and let the team choose the menu items that most define a Pisa food experience.
Our first dish is the Tagliere del Pisano Curate signature sharing ‘Antipasto’ platter which is a mix of Tuscan cured meats, Pecorino cheeses, chicken liver paté ‘Bruschetta’ (S$62). This is definitely a sharing platter and has so many cuts of meats. One of the highlights of it is the pickled peach that really offsets the meat and cheese taste. Be careful not to eat too much, there is plenty more coming.
The next dish is the Fusilli di Pisa Tower. This is shaped Fusilli pasta, Boston lobster Tomberry, green zucchini, Sardinia’s saffron cream sauce (S$52). The lobster is on point with its tenderness and the saffron cream tastes incredible. This is enough for an individual meal and is very rich. The pasta is complemented by juicy baby tomatoes and just pop in your mouth with flavour.
Our main dish is the Cervo Tuscan hunter’s thick-cut venison rack ‘Tagliata’ Roasted Alla Pisana. This consists of rosemary ‘Valdarno’ chickpeas Sautéed spinach, ‘Garfagnana’ chestnut and shallot sauce ($S98). This meal is paired with a sommelier’s red wine choice. The cuts are super tender and charred on the edges just right. The chickpeas complement each mouthful and the sauce blends well with it all.
Last, but certainly not least, the dessert. We are given the Pera del Chianti Spiced Chianti wine poached pear with vanilla panna cotta ($S19). We had not had a dish like this before, a fruit that was poached and so flavourful. The cream is taken with every bite and they blend so well together. The rum raisin bread is used with the mousse as a spoon and is a terrific combination to enjoy.
