Before heading into the wild (literally… to Kenya), we made sure we relaxed and recharged our batteries. We went to spend some quality time not too far from our homes at the Desert Palm PER AQUUM. It is situated within a world-class polo club with stables for around 300 horses, THE premium place to stay during Polo Cups. Following with the location’s theme, Desert Palm has a country club feel with everything related to all-things equine. Note polo magazines in the room and at the reception, pony statuettes and saddles. Even the gym is named Stable Fitness!
After the swift check-in, we were brought to our villa by golf buggy. Most of the rooms are accessible by walking, but private villas are a bit further away. The staff was very helpful and responsive when we needed a buggy lift! All you need for a perfect stay-cation is there. They have a Bar, Restaurants, Tennis court, Fitness center, full Spa facilities with Sauna and Steam room are available for guests.
We were staying in a Polo Pool Villa, which is a spacious 205 sqm with a separate living and dining room, its private 8 meter pool and a balcony that overlooks the main polo field, giving you direct access to the estate gardens. If it wasn’t for Mitch loving his sleep with the curtains closed, I would’ve left them open to wake up looking at our beautiful little private pool calling me good morning!
The bathroom is a big area by itself with a big tub and a shower. The highlight is the shower outside of the villa and there is nothing better than a shower out there knowing that you have full privacy.
After a great day enjoying both pools, relaxing at the Lime Spa, visiting the horses while wandering around the property, we went for the Iftar dinner at Epicure beside the infinity pool. As it is the hot summer nights of Dubai during this time of June to September, we had to dine inside, but had to go enjoy a coffee by the pool before heading back to our room for a late night pool dip!
The next day, we awake to Dubai’s sunshine and wander down to breakfast at again Epicure for an a la carte breakfast, included to the room fees. The drive isn’t too far from downtown but you can feel detached from the hustle bustle of Dubai. Just imagine yourself being in a quite private hotel that won’t be hosting more than 150 guests when full, secluded in a 160-acre polo estate with 4 polo fields, surrounded by tall palm trees, and ancient olive trees.
– Check out for local resident deals when you stay in Dubai as a resident
– Nothing beats a private pool combined with an outdoor shower!
– Out of Dubai, but not too far: Dubai is quite large, so let’s do it this way that will be more accurate than any others: 5 minutes away from International City – 20 minutes from the Airport – 30 minutes away from the Marina and Downtown Dubai
Why is Per Aquum Desert Palm a pick? The room! It is super techy, all blinds are controlled by a remote, and the sound system is amazing. Added to all that, the couch is way too cozy you don’t even want to move out of it! Our favorites are the private pool and the outdoors shower
Bet we will be back for a Vintage Brunch at RARE restaurant and Tipples & Cheese at Epicure just by the pool of Desert Palm <3
