Looking for some different flavours than the regular Chinese, Italian, Arabic or Greek food? You might want to consider paying a visit to Asia de Cuba to try some new flavours. As much you would think “oh no, not another fusion restaurant”, this mix of Asian and Latin cuisine has nothing to do with the normal fusion you know of.
Where is Asia de Cuba
Dubai residents are truly blessed with great international restaurants opening in town. This popular concept ‘Asia de Cuba’ coming all the way from New York opened its door and you surely must pay it a visit. It is located in The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi, replacing the old school and well-known China Grill.
Style and looks of Asia de Cuba
There will be columns with old school colourful posters which we absolutely love! The terrace is a great place to hang (except for summer with the Dubai heat) with hanging plants. The lighting inside the restaurant is a little bit odd with a mix of cold and hot moods. We preferred to be seated on the right hand side area as you walk in because the ceiling is lower which gives it a much more intimate setting.
Eating at Asia de Cuba
The food is created by the Cuban-born Executive Chef Luis Pous. The mix of Latin and Asian cuisines will make you so happy to have chosen the place for dinner as you wouldn’t expect the food to turn out so unique! It will be essential that you order a few set of starters to try different types of flavours. If you like nibbling on different things, you could only order one main to fill up, but try as many starters you can! Don’t forget to leave some place for dessert as they are absolutely not to miss! Cocktails are quite strong and good tasting too, so don’t forget to ask your waiter to recommend you what would be best based on your normal preferences for drinks.
Asia de Cuba Dubai quick review
This place is ideal for a date or post work dinner with colleagues.
The service is just what you expect with staff that are very knowledgeable of their menu.
The food you need to order is the tuna from the ceviche bar with asian pear, orange, seared foie gras and our favourite the crispy octopus al ajillo.
We loved the crispy octopus and the dessert donuts, like LEGIT good!
We didn’t like … if we had to absolutely choose a negative, it would be the lighting in the dining area. It has a odd mix of hot and cold which makes the ambiance a bit off. It is better once the place gets full though!
Bill for two 600-800 AED (~150-220$US) depending if you drink a lot or not and the amount of starters you go for.
