New restaurant in Dubai: Hanami at Andaz the Palm Dubai

The streets of Tokyo have come to Palm Jumeirah with Japanese gastropub Hanami serving delicious street-style food.

This will be the new ‘it’ place, perfect place for good food with good company…oh and yes, the drinks served are phenomenal.

The newly launched restaurant opened its doors at Andaz Dubai The Palm hotel welcoming guests to breathtaking views of Dubai’s skyline while enjoying shared Japanese street food dishes in a cosy but sophisticated setting. The restaurant is headed by chef Yutaka, with a menu encouraging a sharing-style street-food dishes and a Tokyo-inspired beverage selection.

The decor of the restaurant is quite inviting with neon lights and an overall dimmed set up. It is perfect for date nights giving you a notion of ‘privacy’ where you feel your table is the only one in the room. It is also great for gatherings, especially when the weather is nice and cool and you can sit outside to enjoy the panoramic skyline views.

Dishes on the menu include a range of shareable options including your typical edamame (but with a twist), delicious avocado tempura, and of course sushi. My personal favorite is the Hakutsuru or Octopus balls. It is not yet available on the menu but I was assured it would be soon! For the meat lovers, try out the Wagyu Katsu, a thick, tender, and juicy slice of crispy-fried, breaded wagyu beef steak.

The clear highlight of the night were the drinks served. Hanami has an exceptional cocktail list…and sake bar. We opted for the signature Shinsuku or in other terms spicy margarita and my partner had Negronis. They were so good, we didn’t stop at just one. During dessert we were served cranberry infused Sake, which was ‘infused’ in-house. This is a must-have when you go there.

One of the clear measures of success for a restaurant is definitely the dessert menu. We had not one, but two divine dessert dishes recommended to us, the Green Tea Ramisu and the Fusi Apple Pie. If you had to choose only one, go for the Green Tea Ramisu, a classic Tiramisu with a matcha twist. You won’t regret it.

With summer behind us, HANAMI is giving you the perfect excuse to make the most of the cooler weather with the new Nichibotsu Happy Hour menu. Borrowing its name from the Japanese word for sunset, the Nichibotsu Happy Hour offers guests a special 2-for-1 offer on a variety of mouth-watering sundowners, every evening from 6pm to 8pm.
