Well you probably heard of it, INKED. It’s absolutely NOT a Restaurant but a special concept that will be hosting many other dinner series. Last November 26-29th, INKED hosted their pop-up concept This Is Not a Restaurant. “A private dinner, with strangers. One seating, one menu, one time” … had to go check it out, as we missed Tawlet Souq el Tayeb.
First of all, Kenza and Patrick Jarjour are the guys behind INKED and is located where it should be: Alserkal Avenue – home of so many creative spaces. The space is just so immense and contributes to the mysterious feeling.
Once you get in, you receive a card that gives you the instructions of the night. During this concept, there was no talking allowed from the staff. We couldn’t talk to them, only with the other few guests. You had to experience the food and discuss it with the others, be curious and tackle different ways to eat what you get served.
This Is Not A Restaurant was at 375 AED (100$US) for a four course dinner with soft drinks. Gotta say it was very much an awesome dinner overall, but many of the most heard comments was that it wasn’t filling enough.
There will be many other conceptual dinners to come, other guest chef pop-ups, etc. Don’t be to sad you missed this one, December 18-21 check out The Nights Before, sounds promising!
