As we stumbled through our Facebook newsfeed, it came to our attention that Piknic Electronik Dubai existed and was at its 2nd edition.
Coming from Montreal, I was so excited to see that there would be a Piknic Electronik in Dubai. I was so disappointed I missed out for the 3 previous years. Last summer, going back to the hometown, we didn’t have enough time to enjoy the original one and two years living abroad made me miss out on all the Piknic action!
We had to go to see what the Dubai one was about!!
For the people that are new to the concept, it is a family-friendly daytime electronic music festival that people gather together in the afternoon until the evening just relaxing and a bit of dancing. In Montreal we dance quite a lot compared to what we’ve seen at the Dubai edition. Crowds pile up closer to the DJ to dance more around 7-8pm, where in Montreal even at 1pm, people are already raving!
Last year the Piknic Electronik in Dubai was at the Dubai Sports City’s Rugby Park. This year the event is taking place at the Emirates Hills, at The Address Montgomerie Golf Course, which is a better location than the previous edition. From what we’ve heard, the set-up was too large and it didn’t seem as crowded. With this new location, the area made everything more accessible and gathered more people in a same atmosphere. There was some fun dancers, a fun area for kids, food trucks and of course drinks!
We had an amazing time and honestly worth to try at least once! Other than the only downside of having to buy everything through a card (you have to put money in the card and every payment is through it, making it cashless), Piknic Electronik was some great great fun to chill and relax during this perfect Dubai Winter.
