Located in Singapore’s cultural district, The Capitol Kempinski has been restored between the Capitol Theatre and Stamford House and has some of the finest food offerings in Singapore. The Capitol Kempinski Hotel itself is located on top of an underground mall, transportation access with plenty of places to explore.
We rolled up a little romantic staycation at the Capitol Kempinski as a little treat for the long hours that we have put in lately. After being met by the reception staff and given a brief description of the facilities, we went to the room to drop off bags and explore the property. After a quick walk around, we had to prep for dinner.
For the evening we had a pre-booked experience at one of the premier gastro destinations in Singapore, 15 Stamford by Alvin Leung. The team (headed by a Michelin Star Chef) here have crafted a 5-course menu which we were completely blown away by. None of the portions was huge, but each dish had been so carefully planned and plated that it felt like an adventure with each dish.
With cocktails being served all night from XXXX and the magnificent bar staff, we were always being checked on and made sure our meal was pleasant. They even had drinks which complimented parts of the meal! The drink map was like a journey around the world, based on bar staff favourites and experiences.
We cannot speak highly enough of the 5 Meal course that came out. We commenced meals with YellowTail Amberjack with Yuzu Gel, Scallion Oil, Chilli and Ponzu. This was full of flavour and a great way to get the taste buds rolling. This was complemented with Double Boiled Fish Maw Broth with Steamed Prawn Cake and Goji Berries served in a coconut dish. The Prawn Cake really added a great bite to it.
Probably our favourite dish came out next, Kaya Toast foie gras with Kaya Gel. We had no idea how this was going to turn out but were so happy with how good it tasted. It was a shock but could have had 10 pieces!
The main came out and we had one each of the Angus Beef Short Rib with Rendang Sauce and the Red Sea Bream Papaya Relish. As usual, we swapped the dishes so that we could both enjoy the food. The Short Rib so super tender and just melted in my mouth.
It then came time for my favourite meal as always, we chose to share the dishes as we were stuffed. They were a Roasted Pineapple Masala with Vanilla Ice Cream and Lime salt and the Fried Saba Banana with caramel and Rice Ice Cream.
When the 5 course meal and drinks were over, we dragged ourselves off the table, said goodbye the amazing host team and headed back up to the room to enjoy the bed.
After an amazing (and rare) sleep in with our super luxurious bed, we were woken by a knock at the door for our pore arranged romantic breakfast-in-room dining experience. We had ordered what we want to eat the night before and right on time, like clockwork, it had arrived and was ready to eat. Although a simple meal, it was great too not have to leave the bedroom and just enjoy each others company over a quiet breakfast.
After a morning stroll and photo shoot we came back to the room for another pleasant surprise/experience. The staff had made it even more romantic by adding champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries awaiting in the room for us!
Needless to say we spent the rest of the day enjoying each other’s company enjoying the good food and drinks. As I could not make it to the hotel too early, the team were able to extend our check out time to make sure that we could maximise couple time together, a great touch.
