Singapore is one of the best destinations for city travel. The country has a lot of culinary options from the street food options at the Hawker centres to high end Michelin Starred restaurants. From Sidecar Vespa tours to historical walks, there is also plenty of things to see Singapore’s landmarks. One of the must-do’s in Singapore is to hop on the Singapore Flyer to see the city, but you can now also visit its additional new attraction called the Time Capsule. The immersive journey of Time Capsule will allow you to learn a lot about Singapore’s history, guided through the whole experience by your virtual guide, R65, a time-travelling robot!
Not only the experience is meant for Singaporeans to have a meaningful way to spend time together and learn more about the history of Singapore, but also expats and visitors will they the chance to learn more about this wonderful country that has been welcoming them! I personally really appreciated the experience and learned a lot about the history of Singapore through really exciting installations and storytelling.
About the Time Capsule at the Singapore Flyer
Spanning across two levels, the Time Capsule is a great addition to the Singapore Flyer attraction. It draws on the concept of time travel taking guests through a journey through Singapore’s 700-year history. At the end of the journey and upon stepping into the Giant Observation Wheel, guests will be able to witness Singapore’s transformation at the height of 165 metres.
What to expect at the Time Capsule
You will be greeted virtually by R65, a time-travelling robot, tasked with the mission of watching over Singapore and its memories. You will learn in a very engaging way about Singapore’s history and milestones. Then, walk through the experience at your own speed through the time travelling adventure starting from the day Sang Nila Utama spotted the legendary lion.
In a nutshell, at the first floor, discover about Singapore’s history, while at the second floor, you will discover the present Singapore. Walking through the whole immersive exhibits is literally like entering an actual time capsule.
Our highlights of the Time capsule
River of Time: One of the first Insta-worthy areas of the Time Capsule features vibrant graphics on the walls and even on the floor. The landscape transforms around you as you discover about Singapore’s transformation from being a fishing village to a world-class trading port.
Infinity Space: Infinity Space is our favourite installation as it is a masterpiece of music and visuals displayed on a closed door corridor with long mirrors and floor-to-ceiling a screen creating an amazing experience. We felt like we were literally on the filming set of Drake’s videoclip “Hotline Bling”!
The attraction can take around 45 minutes to complete, unless you take a lot of photos like I do! It is very suitable for families and those seeking a visually-stunning activity to do in Singapore while travel isn’t possible. After the whole experience, it is best completed with a ride on the Singapore Flyer. The Time Capsule on itself costs S$15 for adults and S$10 for kids, but to get more bang for your buck, pair the Time Capsule experience with a ride on the Singapore Flyer!
If you’re looking for something new to do in Singapore, this digital experience will be a guaranteed engaging and fun day out, especially with the kids! As adults, we sure enjoyed the experience.
