L’Usine: Café, Eatery, Shop | 151 Dong Khoi, 70B Le Loi, 19 Le Thanh Ton

L’Usine is a classic. It has been for long one of the most trendy coffee shops in town with its unique curated items in the shop as well. The cupcakes there are incredible so make sure to get some. L’Usine is quite popular for breakfast and lunch and if you are visiting town, go to the Dong Khoi location as it is hidden in an old complex full on great hidden gems.

Maison Marou | 167-169 Calmette, D1

Maison is a must. It is a shop opened by the founders of the delicious Marou Chocolate team. Marou is one of our favourite chocolates in the world and its packaging is simply perfect for a gift from Vietnam if you are still looking for a great souvenir for a loved one.

Nest by AIA  | Bitexco Tower, D1

This is an amazing place to get some work done and organize meetings. It’s quite like a co-working spot and also the design is fabulous. Love going here to take photos and get some work done. Note that this place is located in the Bitexco Tower.

Metropolis Coffee

This coffee shop is quite unique compared to others as you sit on the floor. Absolutely love the concept! A little bit out of the city centre but worth the commute!

Cafe Runam

Runam was quite unique when it had only one location. It is also branded as premium coffee. Now it has branched in many other locations, all with unique interior design. Always quite loved the design of this coffee shop and we are sure you will like it too. Some of their locations are very busy so you if you want quiet, can’t guarantee you which one is chill and at what time!

Saigon Chic | 151/10 Dong Khoi, D1

Saigon Chic is a lesser known coffee shop in the same old complex of L’Usine Dong Khoi. If you really want to be in that spot but don’t want a busy spot and also less expensive, go check Saigon Chic.

Les Saigonais | Floor 1, 77-79 Ly Tu Trong, D1

Les Saigonais is also a little clothing shop. It is quite calm and relaxing if you want a place not crowded for a coffee to read your book.

Mockingbird Cafe | 14 Ton That Dam, D1 (4th floor)

This coffee shop is quite rustic but there is a wonderful charm about it. It’s also located in one of Saigon’s iconic Hidden Gem buildings that is 14 Ton That Dam. If you go there, wander around and also make sure to bring your camera as it is perfect for some photos.

Thinker&Dreamer Coffee | Floor 4 – 42 Nguyen Hue

How many coffee shops does this old building need? 42 Nguyen Hue is filled of smoothie, tea, coffee and BBT shops in addition to other small businesses. We have selected 3 of our favourites in that building including this one.

Saigon Oi is probably our favourite coffee shop in the whole building. It is spacious and at down times it is an incredible place to have some laptop work done because of the beautiful light that gets in.

Heritage Vietnam

It started in a random small street and the place was way more hipster and underground and it has graduated to this beautiful facade. Heritage Vietnam is a cute spot if you feel like a coffee and a photo for your social media.

Loft Café

Loft Cafe is quite popular among the locals. It is a great place as well to get some work done if you can find yourself a little quiet corner. This place tends to get full so be prepared to move to another coffee shop if it’s too crowded.

The Coffee House | Le Duan & 88 Cao Thang, D3 & 1 Nguyen Trai, D1 & more

This has become kind of like the Starbucks of HCMC but more affordable! We love their designs in each of their location. The Coffee House is the place of choice if you want a local Starbucks! (Forget about Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf!)

Shelter coffee & tea

We usually go to the one on Le Thanh Ton for a break and quick coffee. From there walk the 15B alleyways to see the nice hidden graffiti walls that most travellers don’t know about!

Cong Ca Phe

Cong Ca Phe is a wonderful local chain. They have coffee shops all across Vietnam including Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, etc. Be aware, it’s quite crowded at the ones we’ve visited in Ho Chi Minh City!

Kokois | 24 Thao Dien, D2

If you live in Thao Dien (District 2), you will like Kokois to do some work. It’s a good place to have breakfast or lunch and the place has a shop which distributes tons of local designers, etc. There is an outdoor and indoors area.

Villa Royale Antiques & Tea Room

Forget about Partea (another cute tea shop with tons of porcelains). Villa Royale Antiques & Tea Room is so much better! This photo doesn’t give the place any justice ! The original location is in D2 in a villa and there is another one in District 1 as well if you don’t plan to wander around D2.
